Book now to reserve your spot on Nancy and Nick’s bottle school trip: June 8th-14th, 2023 ***Booking Options Below***

Nancy and I (Nick) were married in 2009, and had similar views on volunteering and giving back to our community. Also, we both loved to travel. In our travels, we realized that giving back should encompass larger issues and the global community.

Nancy’s sister, Susan, introduced us to the Hug It Forward program and people, and we have been enthusiatic supporters since our first trip. This will be our 4th trip with Hug It Forward, but the first as leaders.

In 2017, we helped build a 3-room middle school in Xecoxol, near Tecpan.

When we returned to the village 4 years later, the changes in the community were significant. The school now had 6 rooms (including a computer lab), an electric water pump, and bathrooms.
The village had grown, at least in part due to the new school.

We enjoyed the experience so much that we returned to help with another school (in Rosario Canajal) in 2018. After that visit, we resolved that we were interested in fund-raising for a school. In late 2019, we reached our goal, and in early 2021, we were able to travel to Guatemala and help to build this school (La Cumbre).

While the core of the group will be extended family (and some new friends), we would like you to join us in the summer of 2023. We are looking forward to meeting you.

Greetings,
Nick and Nancy

Fundraising for bottle schools

You might also like to fundraise for Hug It Forward bottle schools. Fundraising for bottle schools is optional – it is not a requirement of participating in a bottle school trip.

If you choose to fundraise, we suggest a $250 fundraising goal, but some people choose to do more or less than this. It’s really up to you – how much you think your friends and families can give, how creative you can be, and how much time you’re prepared to put into it.

See more information about fundraising.
