Book now to reserve your spot on Kim, Lisa and Linda’s bottle school trip: June 8-14, 2017

Kim:

I never imagined myself going to Guatemala to help build a school. Then I had the good fortune to hear of Hug It Forward and the Bottle Schools about seven years ago, and now I am returning for my sixth-time June 8th-14th, 2017 to continue this great cause.

Hug It Forward has been working in this area long enough now to run a “fine-oiled” operation. Once invited into a village to build a school, the staff educates the community leaders and parents on what is expected from them and, as a volunteer; we come along just for a brief period to lend support to the community effort. This project is not just about the volunteers, it’s about the pride and sustainability of the village. The staff of Hug It Forward makes the experience for all unforgettable. Since over 100 schools have been completed! They have a formula that works for all!!

It is so heartwarming to see the pride in the eyes of the Guatemalan parents as we interact with their children. It is through the contribution of their hard work with the volunteers to complete the school that will benefit the village for generations. Hard work and play time create an everlasting bond.
Opening up and immersing myself in the culture of these wonderful people has given me a new perspective on what is really important to have a happy, enriched life. Please join us, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss and will never forget. Thank you Hug It Forward and Serve the World for creating this opportunity.

Lisa:

I have had the honor to build bottle schools in Guatemala since 2013 and have co-led trips from 2014 to the present. I knew from the time I heard about bottle schools that I was definitely going to go at least once and give back. After the first trip, I was hooked and have gone back every year since then. The people are amazing and the kids and communities jump in and work right along side. A smile is a universal language and to watch the kids participate in the building of their school that will stand long after they go on in life and to know that you’re just a small part of something so much bigger is so rewarding. I was so blessed to be able to bring my now 23 year old son with me on the last two trips and to see the heart for service passing to the next generation is an incredible thing to witness as well. Everyone should experience this kind of thing at least once in their lifetime.

Linda:

Guatemala is a beautiful country. The people are so welcoming and loving. They have little but give much. We are making a difference by helping build schools, but we are actually giving so much more to the communities of Guatemala. We are giving them hope – hope for a bright future! Looking forward to June 2017…

Fundraising for bottle schools

You might also like to fundraise for Hug It Forward bottle schools. Fundraising for bottle schools is optional – it is not a requirement of participating in a bottle school trip.

If you choose to fundraise, we suggest a $250 fundraising goal, but some people choose to do more or less than this. It’s really up to you – how much you think your friends and families can give, how creative you can be, and how much time you’re prepared to put into it.

See more information about fundraising.
