Having a huge heart for travel and kids all started when I was a little girl growing up in then a communist country of Poland. Even though we didn’t have much, I loved sharing whatever I had with my friends. I remember playing piano from our second-floor studio apartment, and my friends lined up outside on the sidewalk to listen to my concerts. That’s all I could give them. By moving to the United States, a whole world of opportunities opened. God placed a passion in my heart for travel and a strong urge to make a significant impact in children’s lives.
During my first volunteering trip to El Chocolate in San Martin Jilotepeque, Chimaltenango, Guatemala my heart filled up with love and joy for the community we were serving. I had no doubt in my mind that I will be coming back again and again and again. Playing with the children, learning from them and the members of the community, laughing together, teaching each other, and making memories was life changing.
Since that first trip in 2015, I led four groups of volunteers to the San Martin and Tecpán regions to build two and three classroom elementary schools. We worked side by side community members, children, parents, and teachers using plastic bottles stuffed with inorganic trash (eco-bricks) for rural communities of El Chocolate, La Pedrera, Panimacac, Los Jometes, Rosario Canajal, and Xetonox lacking educational facilities and affected by poverty, yet oozing with rich culture and strong family values. I love how the communities come together for their kids’ education. All of that, their kindness and smiles are what we all need to apply to our first world lives.
We are off to Guatemala again!! Thanks to Hug it Forward, an amazing organization and a huge blessing to so many, for making these volunteer trips possible! The children, the people, the cause got in my heart so deep that I’m leading another trip March 12 – 18, 2023. Change a life, change a village, and change yourself in the process. Come with us, your heart will thank you! Can’t wait to experience this journey with you this time!

The cost of the bottle school trip is $1,499 per person.
You can reserve your spot by paying a $750 non-refundable deposit now, and the balance ($749) payable in full by February 12th, 2023.

Option 1: Pay using Paypal’s “Send Money” feature (fees do not apply for those that have a PayPal balance or bank account linked to PayPal)
- Log into Paypal (www.paypal.com)
- Click the “Pay & Get Paid” tab and choose the “Send Money” option
- Enter our email address servetheworldtoday@gmail.com and the amount $1,499 (or $750 if you are just paying a deposit now).
- Choose which payment option you want to use (either PayPal balance or bank account)
- Change “Paying for an item or service” to “Sending to a friend”. If you have a PayPal balance or your bank account is linked to PayPal, you will not have to pay fees. If neither of these are the case, please choose Option 2 or Option 3
- In the “Message” box on the following page, please enter which trip you are booking!
- That’s it!

- That you sent a check and what the amount was $1,499 per person (or $750 if you are just paying a deposit now)

Option 3: Pay using Zelle – please check with your bank to see if they offer Zelle as an option for transferring money (fees do not apply)
- Log into your online banking
- Choose to transfer money using the “Zelle” option
- Enter our email address info@hugitforward.org and the amount $1,499 (or $750 if you are just paying a deposit now)
- In the “Message” box, please enter which trip you are booking!
- Send us an email to adam@hugitforward.org telling us that payment has been sent via Zelle
Option 4: Paying by PayPal (fees apply)
Click the “Buy Now” button on the right to pay the $1,499 cost of your voluntourism trip (plus $52.81 in PayPal fees).

Fundraising for bottle schools
You might also like to fundraise for Hug It Forward bottle schools. Fundraising for bottle schools is optional – it is not a requirement of participating in a bottle school trip.
If you choose to fundraise, we suggest a $250 fundraising goal, but some people choose to do more or less than this. It’s really up to you – how much you think your friends and families can give, how creative you can be, and how much time you’re prepared to put into it.
