This is a volunteer opportunity for each of us to have an active and positive influence on those messages. The Hug It Forward bottle school program affords the children of Guatemala a better opportunity to further their education and expand their potential to contribute to their own communities, to Guatemala, and ultimately to the larger global community…particularly important in today’s environment. In addition, the program encourages ecological awareness, promotes recycling, and fosters community involvement.

On a personal level, participating in this program has added new purpose to our lives and provided a welcome alternative to the pervasive “me first” mentality that so many choose to embrace. We have found these volunteer experiences to be a meaningful and rewarding way of “giving back”… meaningful in participating with a community to capture the benefits of education we too often take for granted…literally a survival foothold, and rewarding in the genuine welcome and gratitude we have received from every community we have visited. The benefits we leave in each community are matched by the satisfaction we take home with us. This is truly a life-changing experience… a “reset” to introspection, gratitude and appreciation…the ultimate “selfie” of your soul.

The on-site Hug It Forward staff assures a comfortable and safe environment…with appropriate Covid-19 protocols. Commercial accommodations are provided along with excellent regional cuisine prepared family style by our own chef. Ground transportation is via well-maintained vehicles with skilled drivers experienced in the nuances of the Guatemalan roads. School construction activities may include cutting & bending rebar, tying in bottles, mixing concrete, and/or painting…each involving a moderate degree of manual labor, but there is always something for everyone to do.

Other activities include cultural interaction with the community, a guided tour of nearby Mayan ruins or a visit to a wildlife park and a community hike led by the kids… its work, it’s playing, it’s sharing, it’s personal growth…it’s just plain FUN. Each experience begins and ends in Antigua, Guatemala, a lovely World Heritage Site steeped in history and a showcase of regional culture. So we invite you to join us in what has become an integral purpose in our lives helping to transform the dream of education into a reality for these amazing kids. Log into Paypal (www.paypal.com)
Click the “Pay & Get Paid” tab and choose the “Send Money” option

Choose which payment option you want to use (either PayPal balance or bank account)
Change “Paying for an item or service” to “Sending to a friend”. If you have a PayPal balance or your bank account is linked to PayPal, you will not have to pay fees. If neither of these are the case, please choose Option 2 or Option 3
