April 2013 Bottle School Trip

“Any adjective that I could use to describe my Bottle School trip would be insufficient. This was definitely a peak life experience! Our ten person group worked in Quimal, Guatemala in April 2013. Our primary tasks were to cut, bend and tie rebar. Near the end, we also stuffed bottles. The physical labor was fulfilling in that we knew we were making a difference. In fact, the ten of us were able to cut 12 days off of the duties of the building contractors.

The highlight of the trip was visiting completed Bottle Schools and playing with the children there. Although many of these communities had very little in terms of material things, they had an abundance of love, warmth and kindness to give. I returned home with a bigger heart and a greater appreciation for what it means to truly connect with others.” – April
